Native mobile app design for Jaguar

Jaguar Land Rover wanted to create a world-first, track-day, mobile app. Using raw, telemetry data, directly from the car, and visualising this in a stunning and engaging way, on top of HD footage from a GoPro camera, mounted on the car.

Lead design • Product design • Native app • UX/UI

I led the design for the native mobile app, while I was design director at Conjure. In what was a world-first, ReRun combined real-time video from the driver’s GoPro with key vehicle performance data including speed, throttle position, gear selection, braking and g-force.

App users can select the moments of their drive they are most interested in and download those as video clips. Controlling the GoPro through the mobile app using the GoPro SDK allows the app to understand which videos have been recorded using ReRun and which drives the app has telemetry data available for. This data can then be rendered in real time on top of a low-res video preview, streamed directly from the GoPro.

Working closely alongside GoPro’s development team in California, we ensured that this technologically challenging project went from concept to reality in just a few months.

The mobile app release was very successful, receiving wide coverage in the press from top tier publications such as Forbes and CNET. Conjure also won best in class, in the automotive category at the Drum awards, for the ReRun app.
